The Summer Daze | June #Styleguide

With June comes the beginning of the summer season, and although Singapore is considered a sunny country all-year round, we still couldn't resist a chance to add more colours and summer styles into our wardrobe! This styleguide comes with plenty of outfit ideas to last your month, with upcoming apparels from our future June collections!

Earth Tonalities

The summer season means it's high time to bring our your brightest colours. But for all you girls who don’t prefer going all rainbow, don’t worry! You can always start by adding subtle earthy tones into your wardrobe.

Take our Etan On Sharp Top in Beige for example, it’s definitely a contrast from black and white, and it’s going to match everything you have.

Our Nick Close Call Pants in White is also perfect to wear with everything else you have. But it’s not just of a solid colour, its stripes never fail to add edge to any top.

Lastly, top it all off (or should we say, cover it all off) with our Belden Wild Life Parka in Green. The colour is definitely not something too bright and fancy, but its a start towards adding colours into your wardrobe.

Complete your look with a simple, muted make up to top it all off!

All Lined Up

If there’s one style that never goes out of trend, it’s stripes. When in doubt, you know you’ll never go wrong when you throw on a simple striped top, bottom or dress.

Look forward to plenty of stripes in our upcoming collection, from our Alexia Race Me Top in White, completed with a daring mesh detailing, to our Doris Earn It Top in Navy, easy to slip on, comfy, and airy for the hot summery days ahead.

Compliment your stripey ensemble with our Evan Knot Pants in Grey, a clean cut, flattering pair of pants that go well with well.. practically everything.

Even out the striped vibes with a simple black carry-on, like our Gigi Black Days Bag!

Solidify

Solid colours are a no-brainer; we always revert to them when in a dilemma. We have some upcoming pieces that you’ll wanna have in your closet!

Go easy-breezy with our Belden Wild Life Parka in Navy, which is definitely one of our favourites. It adds structure and is an effortless way to throw in a pop of colour.

A basic white top like our Hanson Plain Top in White is a must-have, holy grail. It goes well with anything you’ll wanna coordinate, and its a basic piece for layering!

For those who don’t stray from the basics, the Cedric Werk It Dress is just the one for you! Add an extra twist with the bare-shoulder detailing, that makes this dress one that’s great for lazy days!

Embroided Matter

Embody the summer vibes in a subtler by donning embroidery! There’s something about embroided apparels that give off a beach, holiday feel, and that’s exactly what we need.

Start with something cute and girly, like our Gianni Summer Daisies Top in Black. We’re all suckers for sunflowers, and we’re pretty sure you are too.

If you’re in for something more sophisticated, then our Reverie Pale Moon Top in Navy is the one you got to have. Completed with a cut out detailing, you know you’ll get more than one wear out of this, simply because its so airy. Something that we’ll definitely need once the temperature starts to rise.

Complete your looks with our Jason Squad Sport Pants in Black. A simple, black pair of pants can go a long way.

Floralities

Let’s be real; every season is floral season. Floral prints come in all styles and patterns, but what we’re really loving this season are floral dresses.

Take our Quiliam Lavender Dress for example. It’s everything you’ll need in a dress, airy, light, and easy to prance around in. Never be caught in a sticky, sweaty situation with this number.

The Javon Nature Girl Dress is also one not to be missed, especially if you’re looking for something more fancy. We love the bright, fluorescent colours, complimenting the white. This is one you’ll want in your wardrobe.

The (ITEM NAME) makes morning preparations easier for all of us. Especially because its hassle-free! But that doesn’t compromise your appearance; this Haldor Flower of Green Dress is a one-stop step for looking preppy and put-together.

Sun City

And of course, how could we have a Summer season without compiling a beach day ensemble? Now's the perfect way to hit the shores with our Amethyst Fire Ring Bikini, which will definitely get heads turning; the good way!

Every beach babe needs a cute cover-up, so try our Noa Lace Fringe on! It's light and flowy, so it's super easy to pack in your beach tote for a summer day's out.

Another alternative to bikinis would be the Olsen Stone Flower Top. It's light material makes beach days fuss-free, so there's no hassle for you. We love its sweet embroided detailing as well, definitely a plus!

June might be half gone, but we're soaking in whatever we have left! Time has flew by in the blink of an eye, and we're already done with half the year, so despite the busy schedules, slot in a moment or two a day to appreciate the simpler and finer things in life, shall we? *winks Till the next #styleguide!

#OOTD Tips | Part #1

Hey there girlies!

Who doesn't love a good #ootd? Especially when you're looking exceptionally fine that day! But #ootds aren't as easy as they look.... especially for the less-experienced. We've compiled 3 nifty tips and tricks that are great for that perfect snap!

1#: Know Your Angles:

Everybody has their own flattering angle, and it's important that you find your own! Whether it's the a front angle, a high angle, or a low angle. Experiment and play around, and you'll eventually find out what best suits you!

#2: Pose Like You Own It:

It's fun playing around with different poses, so go crazy! We have the typical front pose, back-turn pose, an the side-view pose, all very easy to mimic. Whether you're more camera-confident, or a little more on the shy side, there's definitely a pose for you.

#3: It's All About You:

The Candid

For all you smiley-mileys out there, let your personality shine! There's nothing much attractive than a girl with a bright smile, and it comes so naturally!

The Cam Shy

Some of us are camera-shy, but that doesn't mean you should completely opt out of a fancy #ootd! You can always find poses that make you feel the most comfortable, like outfit-only photos, or looking-down shots!

The Serious Sistah

Bring on the Vogue face. If you're all about taking it to the next level, then put on the pout! There's definitely a different element to serious poses that we love.

We hope these tips are making your excited for your next #ootd! Love the outfit featured in this post? Shop ZENA HALF TIME DRESS and HARVEY TRIANGLE PARTY BLUE!

Special thanks to our awesome co-founder and lady boss, Samantha Soh (@samanthasoh) for posing and letting us go crazy with the photos! <3

Shades of May | #Styleguide

April surely went by in a flash! It was a seriously busy month for us! Our popular-demand Ellysage Exclusive apparels like our Fleur Off-shoulder Dress and our Luna Fit to Flare Dress arrived for us to mail out to new homes! We are also currently in the midst of something pretty exciting so... stay tuned!

The Pantone Spring Colour Report for 2015 has recently been out, and it's full of cheery, understated and wearable colours for the season! Therefore, we've incorporated some of these shades in this styleguide, complete with upcoming apparels for the month of May! Shall we begin?

Navy Nabbed

Classic Blue has been true to its name - quintessential. You've seen it on almost everything, from skirts, to tops, and even sneakers. So it's only natural for us to have a little tinge of navy in our May launches! Our Onora Purple Haze Dress is lightweight and airy, perfect for twirling around and beating the heat in! Whereas our Wylie All Blues Dress and our Briar Fair Square Skirt are perfect for more put-together days, where you need more structure and style. A bag is essential for every look, so why not throw your must-haves into our Oralie The Hobo Bag? Go with a bold red lip to compliment the blues, with some silver accessories!

The Fundamentals

It's fun to play around with colour, but we never stray far from the basics! Titanium and Glacier grey are some of Pantone's spring colours, and we totally agree. Grey hues are easy to match, and are a staple to own. Try our Soren Baseline Dress for shape and texture. If you're looking for something preppy and sophisticated, then this is for you! Cardigans are great for Singapore's unpredictable weather, thus we are totally in love with our Elerie Funday Cardigan in Grey! Knits are the texture to go for this season, despite it being spring. Don't fret, wear it without worrying about being too hot and bothered with our Zena Half Time Dress. Sometimes, all we need is a simple crossbody that'll be small and handy enough to carry around, but also spacious enough to store everything we need. In this case, the Snow White Lies Bag is perfect! Go with gold or silver accessories of your choice, and a girly pink lip to add a pop of colour. We also think wearing pretty, colourful shoes are another way of slipping colour into your look!

Seeing Red

Marsala might just be one of our favourite colours this season, simply because it looks good on anything! Jewel tones like this one are great for the wardrobe, especially if you're afraid to go all out with colours! Our Elerie Funday Cardigan in Red is a number not to be missed! Same goes for our Lux Lightfire Top. Knitted spags like these are all the rage these days, and we can see why. The texture is to-die-for, and we love the loose, airy cutting, which makes it perfect for Singapore weather! A maroon-hued bag we are loving this season would be our upcoming Cordelia Crossbody Bag. It's simple, and timeless. Marsala goes extra well with black, so slip on our Emma True Form Shoes in Black for the finishing touch!

Coralled Crazy

Say yay to cute, vivid summer colours! We're definitely jumping onto the bandwagon for this one. Our Atticus Grande Bag is a great way to add a pop of pink hues to your wardrobe without getting too wild! It's wide enough to keep all your bag-essentials and more. That's definitely got our thumbs up! Same goes for our Elyse Handy Sling Bag in Brown. It's really lightweight, and perfect for a lunch date out! If you'd like to even out the bright tones, then throw on our Taye Black Knight Dress and our Riona Rock Em' Boots in Black! They're perfect for neutralising your outfit palette, especially if you're not going for something too daring!

And there you have it! Those are some of our favourite spring colours this year, and a selection of our upcoming apparels and bags that reflect them! We hope you're just as excited as we are for a brand new month. As always, happy shopping, and take care! <3

Our Blogger Picks!

Do you follow us on Instagram? Been seeing stylish fashionistas sporting Ellysage apparels and wondered how you can get your hands on them too? Well.... just for you fashion hungry stylistas, we created a Bloggers Pick section awhile back so you can browse and shop them on one single page! Here are some of our favourite selections from our Bloggers Pick page. :)

Nobody ever gets tired of cats, and this pullover proves it! With two adorable shades of pink and blue, and cute kitty faces printed all over the comfy pullover. Brenda pulls this pullover off (pun intended) flawlessly by pairing it with a pair of denim short and some casual sneakers! It's perfect for a lazy Sunday brunch with some friends!

Twirl like a princess in the perfect girly dress that every girl needs! We love how it looks on Joanna! Doesn't she just look great? This dress is a one-stop option for any day out. No need to worry about piecing an outfit together.

This pullover might just be one of the sweetest ones we've ever released! *winks* Cute pullovers are always a must-have. They never fail to add a pop of colour and life into your wardrobe! We love how Hui Yi dressed this pullover with a pair of simple denim shorts. An everyday look that's quite great for most days!

A simple understated dress is the simplest of all, and the easiest to wear. Our Cathleen Sherlock Holmes Dress features a flared skirting, a smart collar and long sleeves. So it's all up to you to dress it up or dress it down! Shenny chose to wear hers with a little black belt, adding a girlier, more defined touch.

To say this top is a staple is an extreme understatement! The simple fit, stripes and comfort of this top are just some points to name. Whether you choose to pair this top with a simple denim short or some torn boyfriend jeans, you'll never go wrong. Joanna wore this top with some shorts and basic sneakers - a simple and easy look for any day. And plus, it comes in 3 elementary colours!

Interested to check out more of our collaborations with some of your favourite bloggers? Don't forget to check out our Blogger Picks section on Ellysage.com! We're sure there's something for everyone! In the meantime, happy shopping!

To The Land Of Crumpets! | Ellysage Goes to London #BTS

We know you've been wondering.. how did we manage to do a shoot in London? We received so many questions on our Ask.fm that we decided to write a longer blog post for it!

Our co-founder, Sam, was travelling to the lovely city of London for personal reasons, when it just so happened that our model, Gwen, and her up-and-coming videographer friend Rizza were dropping by too! It didn't take much for the ideas to start flowing. Thus began the exciting journey to create a the Ellysage Goes to London Lookbook!

If you have yet to watch it, show us a little love and click on the little play button right below!

Ellysage London Lookbook from RZZ Productions.

Prior to the shoot, Gwen popped by our office to collect some outfits that the team prepared for our lookbook shoot - so, props to our lovely team for being able to put these outfits together! :) The constraint with shooting overseas, was that we had to make sure that everything we needed for the shoot could fit in Gwen's luggage. It's unlike shooting in Singapore, where we have the luxury of bringing many pairs of shoes and unlimited props - as long as they can fit in the car.

Our videographer, Rizza, chose the 2 locations - Hyde Park and Soho. Another tricky thing about shooting overseas, is that we don't have the luxury of scouting out the location prior to the shoot. Rizza went with his gut and we were so lucky that everything went smoothly. London was extremely picturesque, so it was no problem finding cute little spots to film. The weather was also amazing (about 18 degrees Celsius but really sunny!) so we didn't feel tired at all from the shoot!

Of course, all this would not have happened without the efforts from our lovely model Gwen, and videographer Rizza. So thank you guys, you helped make all this happen! It was fun taking Ellysage to London, we hope you enjoyed the lookbook as much as we did filming it! Meanwhile, here are some behind-the-scenes visuals!

6 Tips to get School-Prepped!

It's that month again, where the school gates reopen to welcome students to yet another year! Whether it's your first year at a new school, or your final year of tertiary education, it's always essential to stay prepared and ever-ready for what' to come. So we have compiled some of our top tips for you to stay focused and ready to take on every day of your upcoming school semester. :)

TIP #1: Sleep well, eat clean, and exercise

It's the mantra for a good body and a focused mind. We know the sucky feeling of waking up super early in the morning and feeling like you haven't rested enough, especially if you have another long day ahead of you. Never underestimate the power that good sleep can do for you. Your body requires sufficient rest in order to be ready to take on the next day.

Eating clean is also essential. No need to go out on extensive diets, just be sure to pop in a little bit of fruit here and there, and as always - everything in moderation. A colourful meal with assorted vegetables, fruits and meat is all you need.

Exercise might just be a word that everyone dreads. But once again, there's no need for hardcore gym sessions or marathons on a daily basis. If you have no time, simple exercise circuits can be done at home, to still keep your body moving, and your blood pumping. You could be watching your favourite show on TV, whilst doing simple sit-ups during every advertisement break, or you could simply do a bit of before-bed yoga - anything that you feel comfortable doing.

TIP #2: Have breakfast!

"Breakfast is the most important meal of the day."

A quote you have always heard. It's a simple step to take everyday, but it'll make a whole lot of difference. Having breakfast in the morning kick-starts your body, and provides you with enough energy to overcome the challenges ahead. It has also been proven that having a hearty breakfast gives for higher concentration and focus in class!

If you are always about to rush out the door, a simple bowl of cereal could do the trick, paired with an orange for some healthy sugar-rush!

TIP #3: Write notes!

It doesn't matter whether you're in lecture or in class; taking notes is always a good habit to have! Documenting what happens makes for a clearer mind, and it's also easier to see everything on a piece of paper. If you're forgetful, this tip can come even more in handy! And it doesn't just have to be notes. It could be lists, or little bits and pieces that you choose to write with pen and paper.

Psst, writing notes also gives you something to do, and keeps you occupied during classes so you won't fall asleep. ;)

TIP #4: Go easy on the coffee!

It's easy to get dependent on that cup of steaming hot coffee, after all, it's what most of us rely on for a quick pick-me-up. But it's essential to drink just 400mg of coffee a day - that's 4 cups. In fact, drinking more than the healthy amount could be more harm than good! Too much caffeine in the body could result in restlessness, insomnia and even stomach upset.

TIP #5: Don't forget to chill out!

With piles of work to complete, or lists of things to do, it's more important than ever to have an outlet for the stress. Whether it's having brunch with a bunch of friends, or even spending some solitary me-time reading your favourite book; spending time doing something else other than work is important. It helps you clear the mind, and at the end of the day, it'll make you feel more refreshed!

TIP #6: De-clutter

You don't need to be a neat-freak to heed this tip. Naturally, messy spaces would lead to messy minds. If there's clutter where you work, you'll find it harder to concentrate. Ditch that messy paper pile, and those stack of books collecting dust. You can even get mini shelves, or book dividers from bookshops.

And there you have it! Those are our 6 tips for getting yourself ready and prepared for a brand new school year. We hope that you may succeed in whatever your goal is, and that your school year will be a brilliant one. To more As and more happy memories!

xx, Jolaine
