A Comprehensive Guide to Backorders

So previously, we have covered grounds on what waiting lists are. If you haven't read it, you can read it HERE.

Today, we will touch on the topic of backorders. Our customers would frequently question us, "What are backorders and how do they work?" We're here today to answer all your queries!

Backorders are, in layman’s language, a type of pre-order. When stocks sell out and are no longer available in our warehouse, it doesn't mean that there are no chances of getting it anymore!

As previously mentioned in our Comprehensive Guide to Waiting Lists, when an item is sold out, you can click the button that says "Sold out/ Join Waiting List". When we see that there is a significant waiting list for this product, we will open backorders! You will be notified automatically when backorders are opened if you opt to join our waiting list :)

You can then order that product, and make payment in advance. We will then manufacture more of that product and mail it out to you when the product arrives at our warehouse.

Oh no! It is sold out? Perhaps there will be a backorder up for it soon!

So you may now think “Other than via waiting lists, where can I get backorders from?”

With Ellysage’s website, it’s really simple and easy. When you enter our website, you'd be sure this see this bar:

As you can see the tab second from the right says “Backorder”.

All you need to do is to click on it, and you’d be directed to the backorder page! 

All items on backorder will definitely have a green strip that says “backorder”!

Some of you may also ask – When will our parcels arrive when we place an order containing backorders and in-stock items?

Different online retailers handle this in different ways. The Ellysage way is to maximize efficiency, and provide our customers with prompt service by mailing out in-stock items first, then mail out backorders when the product is ready.

"Where can I check the status of my backorders?"
For your convenience, we have a list whereby all the statuses of backorders are compiled! Simply check this list for your product, and you will be able to see the status of your backorder! This page can be assessed from the bottom menu of our website! (www.ellysage.com)

A Comprehensive Guide to Waiting Lists

Online shopping  can be an extremely daunting task, especially if you are new to this area, but no worries, Ellysage has got you covered!

One question that many of our customers ask us would be – “What are waiting lists and how do they work?” We are here today to help you answer that question!

So imagine this scenario... One fine day you were itching to shop and you decided to check us out (www.ellysage.com) to get a new top for yourself! And you saw this top below!

This beautiful Abihail Lost in the Forest Pullover can be found only at Ellysage!

However, a few seconds later, you realise that... most unfortunately, it already got SOLD OUT. (Sold out items have a little blue tab on the main page, as can be seen in the photo below).

No longer the "blue screen of death", but the "blue tab of death". Boooo!

But, before you get emotional about not being able to get what you wanted so much, we are here to tell you that not all is lost! Click into the product and you will see that you can still join our Waiting List. 

What happens when you join the waiting list is that you have just enrolled yourself to be notified when this item is restocked or becomes available for purchase via backorders. The sooner you join the wait list the better, as our system notifies the waiting list according to the time of joining the wait list! 

See that button on the right side of the page? Just click there to join the waiting list!

Furthermore, if there is a significant demand for the product (judged by the length of the waiting list), this urges our team to restock the item as soon as possible, so that our customers can get what they want! So adding your email towards the waiting list acts like a "vote" to restock the item! :) 

So before you get upset about not being able to get your favourite items, do remember to join the waiting list! It's a super simple process! Just click on the "SOLD OUT, Join Waiting List" button. You will then be directed to a page to leave behind your name and email, and that's all you need to do to be on the waiting list!!!
